Serving the Poor. Restoring Hope. Building a Place of Faith.

Since 1983, Missionaries of Our Lady of Fatima has been serving poor communities through food, prayer, faith, and outreach. Today, we are working toward building a Chapel and community home on 10 acres in Palmdale, California—a place for prayer, meals, counseling, community gatherings, and support for people facing hunger and hardship.

SERVING SINCE

1983

A Journey of Prayer, Faith, and Service

For more than four decades, Emelda Smith has devoted her life to prayer, fasting, feeding the poor, and serving communities in need.
What began in 1983 with food distribution to poor villagers in the Philippines continued through years of prayer gatherings, Rosary Vigils, community outreach, and service.
In 1985, Emelda founded the Missionaries of Our Lady of Fatima. Today, that journey continues with a vision for a Chapel and community home in Palmdale, California.

A Message from Our Founder

Emelda Smith

For many years, we never took photographs or advertised our work because I believed that we were only pleasing one most important audience, and that is our Holy God who sees everything we do.
I started feeding poor villagers in the Philippines in 1983. I would stock my car with food and go to poor areas to distribute it.
In 1984, I began encouraging people and friends to pray the Rosary and to understand the importance of prayer. We gathered every first Saturday of the month from 6 PM to 6 AM for Rosary Vigils. We were tired and sleepy, but we were joyful.
In 1985, I founded the Missionaries of Our Lady of Fatima and continued feeding and outreach work.
For many years since 1983, I have continued to pray the Rosary and fast. My prayers are for families, people’s unity, and world peace. I do not pray for material things because God already knows what we need.
Through these long journeys of 43 years, I have continued to pray and fast through the ups and downs.
For sure, I can say that I have tasted my Lord God in real times.
This Chapel is His Will and Plan. I am just His instrument.
We are called to serve the poor communities, people facing problems, hunger and hardships through hot meals, faith and outreach.
We restore hope and dignity one neighbor at a time.

I am inviting all of you to be part of this MIRACLE.

A Life Rooted in Prayer

Prayer has been an important part of this journey since the beginning.

Emelda began organizing Rosary Vigils in 1984, bringing friends and members of the community together to pray throughout the night.
The Vigils followed the life of Our Lord Jesus through the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious mysteries of the Rosary.
The mission continues to pray for:

Families

For families and their needs.

Unity

World Peace

Restoring Hope and Dignity

Through hot meals, prayer, faith, and outreach, we seek to serve one neighbor at a time.
